1. Overview & Core Philosophy
PulsePair (“we”, “our”, or “us”) is developed by Minto Software Solutions. PulsePair is a private, mutual relationship application designed to foster healthy intimacy, safety, and mutual care between two consenting partners.
Our guiding principle is “Connection, Not Surveillance”. Unlike generic tracking or parental monitoring apps:
- We never record, store, or sell your location history or historical routes.
- We never track driving speed, hard braking, or movement habits.
- Pairing is 100% mutual and requires explicit 6-digit code exchange between both devices.
2. Prominent Disclosure: Background Location Access
To provide continuous real-time distance and status features, PulsePair requests access to ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION, ACCESS_COARSE_LOCATION, and ACCESS_BACKGROUND_LOCATION:
- Purpose: Only to calculate the linear distance between you and your paired partner (e.g. “12 km apart”) and display your current location on your private couple map.
- Ephemeral Data: Your current coordinates overwrite previous coordinates in real time. We do not retain historical breadcrumb databases.
- User Control: You can toggle location sharing ON or OFF at any time within the app settings.
- No Third-Party Sale: Location data is strictly used for peer-to-peer partner features and is never sold to advertisers, data brokers, or analytics intermediaries.
3. Foreground Service & Emergency Siren Permissions
PulsePair utilizes Android’s FOREGROUND_SERVICE and FOREGROUND_SERVICE_LOCATION capabilities to run a dedicated, low-power background listener:
- Persistent Notification: A persistent notification is displayed in the Android system drawer indicating that PulsePair is actively connected to your partner.
- Emergency SOS Lock Screen Alarm: When your partner triggers an Emergency SOS Ring, the app utilizes
USE_FULL_SCREEN_INTENTandSYSTEM_ALERT_WINDOWto wake up your phone display and sound an audible siren even if the device is set to Silent or Do Not Disturb.
4. Information We Collect and Process
A. Profile Information:
Display name, pairing code, user gender (used solely for cycle insights customization), avatar image, anniversary date, and optional partner phone number.
B. Couple Content:
Shared task items, grocery lists, gratitude notes, and photo memories (subject to the 25-photo quota per couple).
C. Diagnostic & Battery Telemetry:
Battery level percentage and charging status, shared only with your paired partner so they know if your phone is running low on power.
5. Third-Party Service Providers
We rely on trusted cloud infrastructure to power the real-time functionality of PulsePair:
- Google Firebase Realtime Database & Auth: Provides encrypted WebSocket channels for peer synchronization, presence status, and emergency triggers. (Firebase Privacy Policy)
- PocketBase Cloud Storage: Secure storage for encrypted profile avatars and couple memories.
- Google AdMob: Serves non-intrusive card-style advertisements and rewarded video ads. AdMob may collect pseudonymous advertising identifiers (AAID) in accordance with Google’s advertising policy. (Google AdMob Privacy)
6. Data Retention & Account Deletion
You retain 100% ownership and control over your personal data:
- Unpairing: Tapping “Unlink Partner” immediately severs the connection and halts all location/status sharing.
- Data Deletion: You can purge your account, delete memory photos, and clear gratitude notes directly within the app settings.
- Manual Deletion Request: You can email us at support@mintoweb.com with your 6-digit pairing code to request permanent deletion of all server records within 48 hours.
7. Children’s Privacy
PulsePair is not directed to children under the age of 13 (or 18 where applicable). We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you become aware that a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately.
